Dale Moore teaches from Isaiah 45 that the holy God is sovereign over both peace and calamity, explaining that the evil God sends is not moral wickedness but natural evil such as sickness, war, famine, and death, used to judge sin. Drawing from Deuteronomy 32, Amos 3, Proverbs 21, and Habakkuk, he shows that the Lord is in control and no one can counsel against Him. He then warns from Ezekiel 14, Colossians 3, and Jeremiah 17 against idols set up in the heart, including covetousness and everyday distractions, and urges believers to guard their hearts and love the Lord with all their heart.

“I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.”Isaiah 45:5-7 (KJV)
