Micah Reaves preaches from Jonah 1 on the difference between saying God planned everything and understanding that God has a will while men have a free will to follow it or not. He gives three reasons bad things happen: because of our own choices, because of the choices of others, and because of no one's choices at all, drawing on David and Bathsheba, Ezra 9, Nehemiah 1, Job 1, and the blind man of John 9. He urges believers to stop charging God foolishly and instead let hardship become a testimony that brings glory to God, pointing to Fanny Crosby, Ron Hamilton, and Paul's thorn in the flesh as examples.

“So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging. Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.”Jonah 1:15-16 (KJV)
